I once lost my way after I lost my mentor, my competition horse – Flaubert. However, my first boy – Lester, gave me a chance to believe in myself again; my new boy – Curios, brings me a new challenge for my life, and my friend’s mare Mei-Mei shows me that there are still tremendous amounts of knowledge waiting for me to learn.
I didn’t know Ms. Katja von Rönne until April 2009. She was invited to be the tutor for our Level B Coaching Course in Taiwan. The basic theories are the same. However, her ideals, methods and the attitude aroused my curiosity to learn more from her in order help my horses. It was also very helpful for my FEI Level 2 Coaching Course in Croatia May 2009.
Because of the cost and the priority, I decided to take Curios and Mei Mei to the course. Curios’ hocks problems makes him feel uncomfortable and makes him rush out every time he has cleared a fence. He is a very sensitive horse, gets nervous easily, but not crazy, as soon as you put the saddle pad on his back. Even with those problems, I still bought him because he is very, very sweet boy, just like Lester. About Mei Mei, she is a horse without ever getting any real training. However, the owner and I are not planning to give her up even most people think that it is a waste time to re-train her. For me, horses like this are just like those disabled kids I work with. They give me more knowledge, experience and happiness. It is not easy, but it is filled with joy.
In these four days, I strongly felt that with strong equine knowledge background, various experiences, sharp eyes, passion for the sport and a flexible attitude are very important for being a good coach. No one is perfect, if you are, you are the San in the church or temple already. There is no end to learning and learning should be joyful.
On the last day, I felt and understood what the Master meaning of “ Horse riding is the moving Ta-Chi “. I know that Katja has the knowledge that I want to learn.

P.S. Curios used to be the king of urine (pee pee). However, he did not urinate after he arrived at Omega and held it for several days. He did eat and drink well, had no fever but he was just too tense at new environment and with the new box neighbor. As soon as we arrived home, he immediately checked his bedding, his box and the neighbor then he urinated. He showed us that he is so happy to be home again. What a silly boy!
